How do you make homemade spaghetti sauce?

For a simple red sauce you can make at home, follow these steps:

  1. Cook 1 cup chopped onion in a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat until the onion is tender.
  2. Add 4 to 5 peeled and chopped garlic cloves and cook for one more minute.
  3. Remove from heat and transfer the ingredients from the skillet to a blender and add two 28 ounce cans of crushed tomatoes, 1 to 2 tablespoons tomato paste, a teaspoon of dried basil, and a teaspoon of dried oregano. Pulse until you reach the desired consistency.
